THE STORY
SHC Music Tribe is the brainchild of Gambrills, Maryland resident Susie Markland. SHC Music ribe host live shows with some of the country's finest songwriters and performers.
At the suggestion of songwriter David Glaser, SHC Music Tribe began with a House Concert series in Maryland. From humble beginnings, the concerts soon became immensely popular.
With the help of many friends and fellow music lovers a.k.a The Tribe, beginning in 2015 Markland expanded her concert series to include other houses and venues giving them different names while trying to leverage the support obtained as Susie's House Concerts. Susie and Soda in Mt Airy MD, Susie's Singer-Songwriter Series at The Woodshop in Gambrills, MD, The Old Town Bowie Concert Series in Bowie MD, and Susie's Songwriter Series at The Mansion on O in NW DC are just a few locations that provided the space for songwriters and performers to share their innate gift of song.
In addition to hosting concerts, Markland is a regular presence at music conferences and festivals including Folk Alliance International, The Americana Fest, the Kerrville Folk Festival, The Falcon Ridge Folk Festival and South By Southwest in Austin, TX (SXSW). Markland has hosted a popular showcases since 2010 at The Northeast Folk Alliance. She successfully hosted an promoted at SXSW showcase and an at Americanafest.
Since 2008 Susie has hosted over 100 shows with many acclaimed and nationally known songwriters; including, Kim Richey, Darden Smith, Ari Hest, Will Kimbrough, Cliff Eberhardt, Louise Mosrie, Eric Brace, Peter Cooper, Thomm Jutz, Jimmy "Daddy" Davis, Dan Navarro, Marc Douglas Berardo, Bob Sima, Amy Speace, Suzie Vinnick, Stray Byrds, Eric Taylor, Raina Rose, Rebecca Loebe, Joe Crookston, Anthony DaCosta, Joe Crookston, John Elliot, David Olney, Amelia White and a host of others. SHC Music Tribe is also representing award winning songwriter Marc Douglas Berardo.
Susie's House Concerts has evolved into is a traveling, rambling musical singer-songwriter showcase that can happen anywhere, anytime. The new name SHC Music Tribe represents a conglomeration of the names, the places, the artists and the patrons that have been a part of the evolution. See you in Musicland.
