The Howell Opera House is the home of the Livingston Arts Council (LAC), a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to providing quality arts and cultural programs and events for the enjoyment of individuals of all ages. The organization has owned and managed the Howell Opera House building since 2000.
The Howell Opera House, built in 1881, is a three-story historic landmark in downtown Howell, Michigan, that serves the community and surrounding area with a variety of quality programs and events hosted by the Livingston Arts Council: fundraisers, art exhibits, dance programs, concerts, live performances, lectures, and much more.
All events are held on the building’s first floor, which was renovated in 2006. The original opera house theater and balcony are located on the second and third floors, which have not been restored to date.
The first floor of the iconic building is also utilized as a rental facility for public and private activities including business meetings, receptions, and fundraisers.
