In 2006 he came to the US. He is now based in New York City and Colorado. Since coming to the US, he has won more than 50 songwriting and performing awards. His music is an eclectic mix of acoustic, melodic art/folk, with flavors of jazz, vaudeville and cabaret. "Rupert Wates has performed once or twice a year for the last several years here at White Horse. I consider him one of our top solo performers. I'd put Rupert near the top of the list of singer-songwriters I've heard in my 50+ years in music. He's a truly fine lyricist, singer and player who has an enormously positive relationship with his audience. ...
