Mike Bailey is a singer/songwriter who grew up in Athens, Georgia. He writes and sings alternative folk music with an influence of old blues. Some of the earliest influences that shaped Mike’s music were Reverend Gary Davis, Son House and Blind Willie McTell. One of his early favorites was Bob Dylan. His finger style acoustic guitar playing is a reflection of these influences.
Growing up in the college town of Athens, Mike was exposed to a wide variety of musicians playing in the area. He loved listening to old 78 recordings. He began playing around the Athens, Atlanta area in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Guitar lessons from Norman Blake helped shape his skill with a guitar!
After nearly two decades of corporate interruption, Mike retired in 2017 and returned to what he loves! Writing, playing and singing! He enjoys refining his performance skills at Fur Peace Ranch in Ohio several time a year.
In 2019 Mike released his first album Secret Heated Winter Gardens and currently is working on his second, Box Full of Rainbows, scheduled for release in late February.
