Hunter and the Wicked

Hunter and the Wick’d is a Southern California based Americana duo. Its members consist of Virginia native, Miri Hunter and California native, Thom Merrick. Based out of Wonder Valley CA, Hunter and the Wick'd plays a mix of contemporary and traditional folk/country/blues. This duo has woven and inspired what Nashville is calling Desert Country Rock (DCR). With influences ranging from Glen Campbell to Tracy Chapman, and Elvis to Joni Mitchell, the band provides a musically vibrant experience. Their recordings explore country/desert melodies and brings them into a contemporary folk style. There’s a wealth of beautiful music and songs explored on their debut album.

“This music is all about giving yourself up to the wisdom and creativity that the desert imparts to you…at whatever emotional and spiritual cost. Thom and I come from varying musical traditions. He grew up during the punk music era and I grew up trained as a classical pianist. Within the realm of music, we create a montage that is representative of Americana music influenced by desert dreams,” states Miri.

Hunter and the Wick’d perform throughout Southern California in places such as the Hard Rock Hotel in Palm Springs, The Federal Bar in Los Angeles, Pappy and Harriet’s in Pioneertown and various other venues in Arizona, California and Nevada, as well as the Vintage Vibe Festival and the Morongo Valley Music Festival.
