Hunter has recorded two solo CD's. Her original song "My Soul Will Be Restored" was awarded pop song of the year by the Toronto Music Festival. Her newest CD compilation with her duo partner was released in February 2023. The song Red Shoes and Blue Jeans was chosen as one of the BEST SONGS of 2022 by World Indie Radio (https://www.indie-talk.com/post/indie-talk-podcast-features-best-songs-of-2022 ). In 2020 her song “I Don’t Wanna Talk Right Now” from her band’s first recording, was awarded a WAM Award as Best Love Song and was included on the Country music compilation “Keepin’ It Country.” (https://www.tunedloud.com/2019/09/09/bwh-music-group-keepin-it-country-vol-one-by-various-artists/ ). She has woven and inspired what Nashville is calling Desert Country Rock (DCR).
Born and raised in Southern Virginia, Miri Hunter grew up in a musically inspired household. Her mother loved country and western, her dad was heavily into jazz and blues. Her favorite radio played everything from John Denver to James Brown to the Moody Blues. It was inevitable that Miri would become immersed in music. That upbringing coupled with classical piano training and passion to discover new sounds would mold Miri into the artist she became. She currently calls the Southern California desert home. The expansiveness and solitude of desert life are the inspiration for her writing and performing.
