I had just seen Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová at Radio City Music Hall so Ireland was on my mind; as they say, timing’s everything! From her website: With a voice like complex coffee, Gráinne Hunt enchants audiences with her heart-melting vocals and emotional songs, making her a standout among Ireland’s vocalists and songwriters. Her songs delve into personal experiences, evoking pain and longing and comparisons have been drawn to Tracy Chapman, Natalie Merchant, and Dolores Keane.” ‘A natural performer, Gráinne Hunt commands an astounding voice that will melt your heart. No crowd can resist.’ -- Declan O’Rourke Songwriter, Author ‘The hardest working woman in Irish music’ -- Glen Hansard Gráinne has shared stages with Glen Hansard and U2 and has opened for Gladys Knight, Mary Black, and Eagle Eye Cherry. She performed at Folk Alliance International in Kansas City this past February, and we’re the last stop on her first US tour! Gráinne will be accompanied by drummer Jules Stewart; both recently appeared on the PBS show “Ireland with Michael (available on PBS Passport).” Here’s “Lilacs” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rcv_wRs5uCA https://grainnehunt.com/ We’re also pleased to introduce Johnny Kasun to our gourmet audience. We—Ken, music sister Amanda and I—discovered Johnny at a Saturday afternoon Light of Day "Songwriters in the Round" show in February. We caught his sound check and agreed he was rather good! Originally from Leesburg, VA, Johnny now calls Monmouth County his home. He writes and performs genres from classical to rock, specializes in fingerstyle guitar, and is quickly becoming a fixture in the Asbury Park music scene. Here’s his interpretation of the Traveling Wilburys’ “Handle Me with Care:” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUzpZRkss8M https://www.johnnykasun.com/
