Scott Ray Laws embarked on a pilgrimage to Texas with just two suitcases and $500 in his bank account. His goal was to dive into the vibrant music scene and learn from fellow songwriters. Austin, known as the "Live Music Capital of the World," offered countless opportunities for him to grow as an artist. Open mics and songwriters' nights became his training ground, where he soaked up every moment, listening to others share their stories through music. He approaches songwriting with fiery passion: heart in every word, melody, and chord progression. His inspiration comes from the incredible storytelling abilities of artists like John Hiatt, Rodney Crowell, Neil Finn, Chuck Prophet, and Ron Sexsmith; their music has shaped his own artistic journey. Laws is thrilled to announce the release of his latest album, A.M. Sessions, a collection of songs crafted with the help of old friends and some new collaborators. These days, he resides in Sonoma County, California, working hard as a touring artist and singer-songwriter for his original rock band, The Heartsleeves. He invites everyone to join him on this musical journey, sharing his songs one person at a time in this vast and unpredictable world we live in.
