Son Henry

Son Henry is a folk and Americana singer-songwriter whose music blends vivid storytelling, lived-in poetry, and the unmistakable glow of his signature lap-steel guitar. Though he’s a two-time British Blues Award winner for his lap-steel work, Son’s heart sits firmly in the folk tradition; songs shaped by quiet moments, long roads, rough edges, and the truths that linger between them.

His 2024 album Ballad Hunter dives deep into narrative folk and early American roots. Inspired by the Lomax field recordings and Appalachian mountain ballads, the record unfolds like a collection of rediscovered stories. Ghosts, wanderers, preachers, lovers, and ordinary people carrying extraordinary burdens. Each track balances sparse, haunting arrangements with lyrics that feel carved out of memory and myth.
