Anne E. DeChant is a Nashville recording artist originally from Cleveland, Ohio where she was a five-time Singer-Songwriter of the Year. She has performed with Stevie Nicks, Edwin McCain, Sheryl Crow, Train, Chicago, Joan Armatrading, Melissa Etheridge, and Livingston Taylor, and has played venues ranging from the Clinton White House to such storied listening rooms as Nashville’s Bluebird Café, Birmingham’s Moonlight on the Mountain, Charlotte’s the Evening Muse, and Cleveland’s Cain Park.
As a graduate in philosophy and writing, DeChant has followed in the topical footsteps of such icons as Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan, clearly expressed through an undeniably unique, powerful voice and songwriter's perception.
Her signature song, “Girls and Airplanes,” about women breaking down barriers, has been featured on the soundtrack of the Hollywood film, “The Hot Flashes,” starring Brooke Shields; in the critically acclaimed documentary film, “The Vetters: All We Needed”; and has become a staple for Cleveland’s Windsong Chorus, as arranged by Juilliard graduate Jan C. Snow. Frontiers of Flight Museum (Love Field, Dallas) has added the anthem to its prestigious archive collection.
DeChant’s single “Sunday Morning Drive”, from the 100% fan-funded 2016 studio album, “The Sun Coming In,” climbed to #1 on the Roots Music Report’s national chart, and the CD charted at #6. Her newest recording, “Lost in Kentucky”, released in July, 2018.
“There’s virtue in honesty, and in intuition, and in openness, and in tough-minded decency. Those things may or may not make for fine art. In the hands, heart, and voice of Anne E. DeChant, they may, they might, and they do.” -Peter Cooper (Museum Editor, Country Music Hall of Fame, Nashville)
