Strangled Darlings, originally from Portland, Oregon, now based out of Vermont. They perform ~ 150 shows/year thru New England, the midwest and the deep south. Jess Anderly is the band as she finger picks the tenor bass or plays keyboard while mastering foot drums and singing harmony simultaneously. She frees George Veech to explore the tones on his four string mandolin and weave stories of good and evil. His rich lyrics pull listeners into an anime sequence of dark hollows and coal fires. The duo formed in 2009 and has released four studio albums (a fifth is under construction).
Their song material fits the "Americana" genre with inspiration coming from: folk imagery, current events and shopping malls. They mix good, original songwriting, technical mastery with deadpan humor and a little something to shake your rumpus. It's all about the live show these days.
